Bill made a life-long commitment to the struggle for social justice. He brought people into the movement with a warm, “How ‘zit sistah?” and genuine interest in the response. As an elder he interacted with younger activists as equals. Ronnie Bautista says, “He didn’t talk down to you. He didn’t try to give you advice. It’s more that he shared his experiences and told a lot of stories. He didn’t tell you what to do.”

These interviews are wonderful! Will try to use them in SF State classes. Bill and his son Giulio came to speak to my students at SF State about 10 years ago; and I use the family portraits video and Fall of the I-Hotel film as well. This site will be another good addition to materials about our people’s struggles.
