I-Hotel Eviction Commemoration

36th year I-Hotel Eviction Commemoration

August 4, 1977 - 2013

Saturday Aug. 3rd at 6pm will mark the 36th year of the horrific eviction of the storied International Hotel that helped shape the Asian American community and became the historic battleground for low-income housing rights and urban planning.

This year we recognize six former I-Hotel tenants who were leaders in the struggle to save the I-Hotel. We will hear stories about Wahat Tompao, Luisa Dela Cruz, Joe Diones, Etta Moon Chung, Joaquin Legaspi, and Felix Ayson.

Join us for an evening of poetry, music, theater, story-telling, dance, video and ritual. At the end of the night, we will hold a candlelight vigil and march. You are all invited!

WHEN:

Saturday, Aug. 3rd, 6pm

WHERE:
International Hotel Manilatown Center, 868 Kearny Street, San Francisco, CA 94108

In community partnership with: International Hotel Senior Housing, Inc., Kearny Street Workshop, Chinese Progressive Association, and Chinatown Community Development Center.
